Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti Green-Lights E-Bike Program for Students, Women, and Public
QUETTA – Balochistan has officially joined Pakistan’s electric mobility drive, as the provincial cabinet led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has approved a landmark E-Bike Subsidy Scheme. The initiative, passed during the cabinet’s 21st meeting, aims to make electric bikes affordable and accessible to a wide range of citizens.
Under the scheme, the government will provide a 30% subsidy on e-bike prices, while the remaining cost can be paid through easy monthly installments via bank financing. Unlike similar programs in Punjab and Sindh, Balochistan’s scheme is open to a broader audience, including students, working women, government employees, and the general public.

The move comes as provinces compete to expand green mobility. Punjab has already rolled out thousands of e-bikes under its Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative, while Sindh has launched a women-focused program distributing 10,000 free e-bikes to industrial workers. With rising fuel costs and growing demand for eco-friendly transport, Balochistan’s entry into the EV revolution is expected to reshape urban mobility in Quetta and beyond.
