BYD Shark 6 Secures Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating
BYD’s Shark 6 DMO pickup truck has achieved the maximum five-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP assessment, reinforcing its position as a competitive new-energy vehicle in the global automotive market. The recognition highlights the pickup’s strong crash protection, advanced driver-assistance technologies and safety features. According to Euro NCAP, the vehicle demonstrated excellent overall performance in occupant protection and crash avoidance systems.
Strong Adult and Child Occupant Protection
The BYD Shark 6 recorded an 82% score for Adult Occupant Protection and 86% for Child Occupant Protection. The assessment highlighted its performance in frontal and side-impact crash tests, as well as protection for child occupants represented by six- and ten-year-old test dummies. Its child presence detection system also received recognition for alerting drivers when a child may have been left inside the vehicle. The pickup additionally secured 74% in the Vulnerable Road User category, with its autonomous emergency braking system demonstrating effective responses to cyclists and motorcyclists.
Advanced Safety Technology and Super Hybrid Performance
In the Safety Assist category, the BYD Shark 6 achieved an impressive 87% score, supported by its autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure assistance and intelligent speed assistance systems. The pickup features BYD’s Super Hybrid DMO powertrain, combining two electric motors with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It delivers a combined output of 436 horsepower and 650Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Its 29.5kWh Blade Battery supports electric driving, while the combined driving range reaches up to 800 kilometres with a full battery and fuel tank.
Premium Interior, Smart Features and Practical Utility
Designed for both work and lifestyle needs, the five-seat double-cab Shark 6 offers a range of premium features, including vegan-leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system. Its technology package includes a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50W wireless charging and a 360-degree camera. The vehicle also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing users to power external electrical devices through onboard power outlets, making it suitable for outdoor activities and professional use.
BYD Announces Free Maintenance Offer in Pakistan
Commenting on the achievement, BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said the five-star Euro NCAP result reflects the company’s investment in research, engineering and advanced electronics. She highlighted BYD’s team of 120,000 research and development engineers and its commitment to making innovative technologies accessible to customers. Meanwhile, BYD Pakistan has announced a one-year free service maintenance package, including parts and labour, to mark the Shark 6’s first anniversary in the country. The offer applies to new customers making full-payment bookings until October 31, 2026.
