GAC AION ES Offers 442km Range, Fast Charging as Pakistan Launch Nears

GAC AION ES Spotted in Pakistan as Launch and Pricing Details Near

KARACHI: The GAC AION ES, an all-electric sedan, has already been spotted in Pakistan, giving local automotive enthusiasts an early look at the model as preparations continue for the announcement of its potential launch and pricing.

The sedan was first spotted in Pakistan in May and quickly attracted attention with its futuristic exterior, spacious interior and fully electric powertrain. Its expected arrival comes as interest in electric vehicles continues to grow in Pakistan amid rising fuel prices and increasing consumer demand for more economical and environmentally friendly mobility options.

The AION ES is manufactured by GAC AION, the electric vehicle brand of China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). In Pakistan, Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has entered into an exclusive partnership with GAC, paving the way for the Chinese automaker to expand its presence in the local market.

AION ES Set to Enter Pakistan’s Growing Electric Sedan Market

The AION ES features a streamlined, starship-inspired design complemented by modern lighting elements. Its cabin is designed around comfort and practicality, offering a spacious environment for everyday use while incorporating contemporary technology.

The electric sedan is equipped with a 53.7kWh battery and has a claimed range of up to 442 kilometres under the NEDC cycle, while its WLTP-rated range is around 360 kilometres. The vehicle also supports DC fast charging, with the battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes.

A key feature of the AION ES is GAC’s Magazine Battery 2.0 technology, which is designed to improve battery safety and protection. GAC has highlighted the system’s resistance to fire and water and subjected the battery technology to rigorous durability and safety testing.

The expected pricing announcement comes at an important time for Pakistan’s automotive market. Rising petrol prices, greater adoption of solar energy and growing awareness of electric mobility are encouraging consumers to consider alternatives to conventional petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles.

The AION ES could give Pakistani consumers another option in the electric sedan segment, combining a familiar sedan body style with modern EV technology, a competitive claimed driving range and fast-charging capability.

However, the model’s success in Pakistan will ultimately depend on its official price, charging infrastructure, after-sales support, spare-parts availability and overall value compared with competing electric vehicles.

With the AION ES already generating interest among local buyers, the forthcoming pricing and launch details from GAC Pakistan are expected to determine how competitively the electric sedan is positioned in Pakistan’s rapidly developing EV market.
