NUST Formula Team Launches NAS HV-26 Ahead of Türkiye Formula Student Event
The NUST Formula Student Team (NFST) has unveiled its latest hybrid race car, the NAS HV-26 (Car 268), marking a major milestone for Pakistan’s engineering and sustainable mobility sector. Developed entirely by undergraduate students at NUST’s Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) campus in Karachi, the vehicle was officially launched on June 2, 2026. The team will represent Pakistan at the international Formula Student competition in Türkiye scheduled for September this year.
The NAS HV-26 reflects the team’s transition toward advanced hybrid technology after successfully producing eight generations of combustion-powered vehicles. Built through extensive testing, design reviews, and manufacturing efforts, the car combines an aerodynamic chassis, advanced suspension system, and a high-performance hybrid powertrain designed to deliver both speed and reliability on the track.
Student-Built Hybrid Race Car to Represent Pakistan on Global Stage
Team members described the vehicle as more than a racing machine, calling it a platform for innovation, learning, and showcasing Pakistan’s engineering talent globally. The project received valuable support from several corporate partners, whose financial, technical, and logistical assistance helped the team develop the hybrid system and manufacture the vehicle.
Founded in 2012, the NUST Formula Student Team is Pakistan’s first team to compete in international Formula Student events. Following its successful participation at Silverstone in the UK and strong performances in recent competitions, the team now aims to achieve further success in Türkiye while continuing to promote youth innovation and technological excellence in Pakistan.
