BYD Set to Expand Hybrid Lineup with New Atto 2 or Sealion 6 SUV
BYD is preparing to introduce its first plug-in hybrid SUV in the Indian market, with the company officially confirming a launch date of June 9.
The upcoming model will feature BYD’s ‘DM-i Super Plug-in Hybrid EV’ technology. While the exact variant has not been confirmed, the SUV is expected to be either the Atto 2 or the Sealion 6.
The Atto 2 is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 7.8 kWh or 18 kWh battery pack. According to BYD, it offers a combined driving range of up to 928 km and 998 km under the WLTP cycle, depending on the battery configuration.
The Sealion 6, positioned as a more premium option, comes with either a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated or 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with 18.3 kWh and 26.6 kWh battery options. BYD claims it delivers a maximum driving range of up to 1,092 km, making it the longer-range alternative in the lineup.
