Despite Japan Slowdown, Suzuki’s Overseas Growth Powers Record-Breaking October 2025
KARACHI: Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan recorded a strong performance in October 2025, achieving record-high global production and sales for the month, driven largely by robust demand and output in overseas markets-particularly India. According to the company’s latest data, Suzuki’s global production reached 304,917 units in October, reflecting a 6 percent year-on-year increase and marking the second consecutive month of growth. This milestone was primarily attributed to record-high overseas production, which rose 9.5 percent to 212,571 units. Between January and October 2025, Suzuki’s total global production amounted to 2,807,351 units, up 1.1 percent from the previous year, while production from April to October rose 1.8 percent to 1,938,268 units.

In contrast, production in Japan declined slightly to 92,346 units, a 1.3 percent decrease year-on-year and the first drop in two months. Suzuki reported that domestic demand-related production weakened even though production for export markets increased. Overall Japan production from January to October stood at 800,360 units, down 7.1 percent, while April-October output totaled 571,577 units, representing a 4.4 percent decline.
India Drives Suzuki’s Global Surge as Company Hits All-Time Highs in Output and Sales
Overseas production continued to be the company’s strongest pillar. Output outside Japan increased for the second straight month, rising to 212,571 units in October. India, Suzuki’s largest overseas market, led this growth with 191,927 units produced-an 8.3 percent increase and the highest-ever October output recorded by the company in the Indian market. Total overseas production between January and October reached 2,006,991 units, up 4.8 percent, while production from April to October rose 4.6 percent to 1,366,691 units. Production in other international markets outside India also surged to 20,644 units, showing a 22.1 percent year-on-year increase.

Suzuki’s global sales also hit a record-high level for October, totaling 305,809 units-an increase of 6.8 percent year-on-year and the first rise in eight months. From January to October, the company’s global sales reached 2,705,440 units, down 1.2 percent, while April-October sales were 1,828,252 units, showing a slight decline of 1.3 percent. Sales in Japan performed exceptionally well, rising 5.8 percent to 63,955 units-the highest-ever sales figure for the month of October. Sales of minivehicles in Japan declined 4.8 percent to 46,734 units, marking the first drop in two months, while standard and small vehicle sales surged 51.4 percent to 17,221 units, setting a single-month record and marking the seventh consecutive month of growth. Total Japan sales from January to October rose 1.9 percent to 619,971 units, while sales from April to October climbed 3.8 percent to 418,932 units.

Overseas sales increased to 241,854 units in October, up 7.1 percent year-on-year and recording growth for the first time in nine months. India once again led the international sales momentum, with domestic wholesales rising 10.8 percent to 180,675 units-its highest-ever October sales. For the January-October period, overseas sales totaled 2,085,469 units, a slight decline of 2.1 percent, while sales from April to October fell 2.8 percent to 1,409,320 units. Sales in other overseas markets outside India dropped 2.5 percent to 61,179 units, reflecting the first decline in three months.
Suzuki’s export performance also reflected a positive trend in October. Total exports-including CBU and CKD units-rose 9.8 percent year-on-year to 20,933 units, marking the first increase in two months due to growth in both categories. However, cumulative exports from January to October stood at 163,148 units, a year-on-year decrease of 18.8 percent, while exports from April to October fell 12.4 percent to 120,225 units.
Overall, Suzuki’s record-breaking October results underscore the strength of its overseas operations, particularly in India, which continues to serve as the driving force behind the company’s global growth. Despite pressure on domestic production in Japan, analysts note that Suzuki’s diversified manufacturing footprint and strategic overseas focus position it favorably for a stable and competitive finish to 2025.
