First Locally Assembled Jetour T2 i-DM Rolls Off Pakistan Production Line
Jetour Pakistan has commenced local assembly of its T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid SUV, with the first completely knocked down (CKD) unit rolling off the production line. The development marks a significant shift for the model, which was initially introduced in Pakistan as a fully imported vehicle.
The Pakistan-spec T2 i-DM features a plug-in hybrid powertrain claimed to produce 360 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. It is equipped with an 18.4 kWh LFP battery and offers an electric-only driving range of around 90 kilometres under the NEDC testing cycle.
Local assembly is expected to help Jetour improve vehicle supply and delivery timelines while gradually reducing its reliance on fully built imported units. CKD production could also improve parts availability, streamline supply chains and potentially provide greater pricing flexibility for Pakistani consumers. However, local assembly does not necessarily indicate a high level of domestic localisation, as much of the automotive industry continues to rely on imported CKD and SKD kits.
The T2 i-DM assembly initiative comes as Jetour continues expanding its presence in Pakistan. The company has recently broadened its SUV lineup with models including the T1, T1 i-DM and T2 XWD. The long-term success of the T2 i-DM locally will depend on production consistency, timely deliveries, after-sales and parts support, as well as the extent to which locally sourced components increase over time.
