Electric Mercedes C-Class to Feature More Recycled Materials and Low-Carbon Manufacturing
Mercedes-Benz has revealed new sustainability measures for its upcoming electric C-Class, highlighting the use of recycled materials and low-carbon manufacturing processes as part of its broader environmental strategy. The automaker says the vehicle incorporates around 108 pounds (49 kg) of recycled thermoplastic plastics in components such as wheel arch liners, bumper carriers, and interior fabrics.
The company also uses recycled and CO₂-reduced aluminum and steel produced with renewable energy, while nearly two-thirds of the electric C-Class is built using carbon-reduced aluminum. Mercedes said the vehicle is manufactured at its Kecskemét plant in Hungary, where solar power, renewable energy, and water-saving technologies help reduce emissions and environmental impact.
In addition to greener manufacturing, Mercedes-Benz is focusing on responsible sourcing and reducing carbon emissions throughout its supply chain. The initiative reflects the automaker’s ongoing commitment to sustainability as it expands its portfolio of electric vehicles.
