The 2026 Mazda CX-90 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) has been named a winner in U.S. News & World Report’s inaugural 2026 Best Adventure Vehicles Awards, earning top recognition in two categories: Best Midsize Plug-In Hybrid SUV for Road Trips and Best Midsize Plug-In Hybrid SUV for Camping.

Evaluation criteria are tailored to each segment. Off-road categories consider factors such as all-terrain tires, locking differentials, approach and departure angles. Road trip and camping categories evaluate fuel economy, interior space, versatility, and comfort, and incorporate each vehicle’s overall score from the U.S. News Best Cars rankings as a measure of overall quality.
