BYD Hits 5,000 Flash Charging Stations, Targets 20,000 by 2026

BYD’s Flash Charging Push Intensifies Race in China’s EV Infrastructure Market

BYD has reached a major milestone by launching its 5,000th flash charging station in China, located along the Qinglan Expressway near Lanzhou. This expansion is part of its “Flash Charging China” initiative, which now spans 297 cities and reflects the company’s aggressive push to strengthen EV infrastructure nationwide.

The company’s second-generation Blade Battery technology enables ultra-fast charging, allowing vehicles to charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes and up to 97% in around nine minutes under normal conditions. Even in extreme cold temperatures, charging remains highly efficient. BYD also emphasized safety and durability, noting that extensive testing showed no fire incidents, alongside offering a lifetime warranty on battery cells.

BYD plans to scale its network to 20,000 flash charging stations by 2026, significantly outpacing competitors like Nio and CATL. The rapid expansion highlights intensifying competition in high-power EV charging solutions, as companies race to reduce charging time and eliminate range anxiety—key factors driving electric vehicle adoption.
