China’s Auto Market Slows in November as Wuling Mini EV Leads Sales
China’s passenger vehicle market recorded retail sales of 2.225 million units in November, down 1.1% from October and 8.1% compared to the same month last year, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV retained its crown as the nation’s best-selling passenger vehicle, with 56,800 units sold in November and cumulative 2025 sales reaching 406,200. It was followed by the Tesla Model 3 and Geely Geome Xingyuan.
By segment:
- Sedans and hatchbacks: 1.007 million units sold, down 1.5% month-on-month and 10% year-on-year.
- SUVs: 1.132 million units sold, down 0.9% month-on-month and 5.6% year-on-year.
- MPVs: 86,000 units sold, up 1% month-on-month but down 16.8% year-on-year.

Despite topping the list, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV’s sales fell 7.7% month-on-month. Geely Geome Xingyuan also dipped 5%, though its cumulative January–November sales of 429,600 slightly outpaced Wuling. Notably, four of the top 10 models were gasoline-powered: Nissan Sylphy, Volkswagen Sagitar, Passat, and Lavida.

The Wey Gaoshan broke market trends, topping MPV sales for three consecutive months and becoming the first MPV in 2025 to exceed 10,000 monthly units. The newly launched Wuling Starlight 730 PHEV/EV, introduced mid-November, quickly secured fifth place with 5,090 units sold in just over two weeks.
